At one moment in our existence we sang for joy because our Father in Heaven agreed to coach us back into His presence.
Then we were born and a veil was placed between that moment and the present. Our memory became clouded even temporarily erased.
In order to accomplish our vision and dream, we needed conflict to make us grow. So the Lord introduces us to conflict every day. The rules of engagement for exaltation are to cope with…
- Getting out of bed in the morning
- Fatigue
- Sore muscles
- Too much food
- Toxic family members
- Politicians
- Wickedness
- Fat
- Cholesterol
- Jerk neighbor
- Lazy spouse
- Disobedient children
- Video games
Are you running from or to conflict? Are you chasing or fleeing the very thing that will draw to closer to the eternal vision that is the source of your birth: a covenant with God?
It seems we spend much of our time and energy avoiding the conflict given us from above.
Elder McConkie once explained that exaltation has a lot to do with the direction we are facing at the time of death. Much like the question in the Garden:
“Adam, where art thou?”
In other words, Adam, where do you stand? Adam represents each of us, therefore:
Where do you stand regarding conflict?
Do you embrace it and treat it as a gift from God?
Or do you flee His attempt to help you grow and then blame Him?
I am smiling and appreciating your mini list of conflicts. I had not previously thought of some of them as conflicts, but I will now have a greater appreciation for the challenge of facing more of them head-on, with enlightened insight.
I enjoy/appreciate writing down challenges and evaluating my progress. I especially appreciated your insight with “Adam (Eve), where art thou?” regarding our “measure of standing in the light.” I couldn’t help but think of the prophetic directive to “stand in holy places.”
Thanks for inviting a higher view of the gifts of conflicts!
